Ayala Malls Heart Series

Ayala Malls Heart Series

Acrylic paint on fiberglass / 2016

Ayala Malls commissioned local artists to paint large-scale hearts for Valentine’s Day 2016. I was assigned a 12 ft fiberglass heart (made by Imagine Nation Studios) stationed in UP Town Center, Quezon City. I decided on a bright and happy geometric design that I thought would be practical and stand out from the rest of the structures.

It was quite daunting as I’d never painted anything that big before. We only had 2 days to paint the whole thing so I decided to hire an assistant painter (he was a pro sign painter) and begged my wonderful friends to help out too. I definitely couldn’t have done this without their help! Thankfully we survived the heat and finished with time to spare. Overall it was a really fun experience 🙂

If you’re in the area,  you can still check out the heart in the outdoor area of UP Town Center.
